Macdonald Hotels to invest £2m upgrading health & wellbeing facilities

Macdonald Hotels and Resorts group plans to invest £2million into upgrading the wellness offer in its spas in the coming months.

The group’s managing director for leisure and spa, Jeanette Jones, said that since the refurbishment of the Inchyra Hotel & Spa in 2012, she has seen a huge increase in demand for health and wellbeing facilities.

Macdonald Craxton Wood Hotel in Chester will receive the majority of the investment, with £1.4m being ploughed into its spa and wellness facilities over the coming three months.

Set to relaunch in June, the Craxton Wood Hotel’s Vital Health and Wellbeing Club will see a refurbished pool with poolside sauna and steam room, plus 12 treatment rooms. Its extensive thermal suite will include an aroma steam room, rock sauna, ice foundation, rasul mud therapy room, salt infusion room and relaxation lounges.

Elsewhere Macdonald is investing £240k into refitting spa changing facilities at two of its hotels. It is also pushing £450k into upgrading gym equipment at eight of its Vital Health and Wellbeing Clubs, including the Bath Spa, Alveston Manor and Berystede sites.
