Macdonald Hotels to place 400 young people into traineeships in 2016

Macdonald Hotels & Resorts, one of the UK’s largest independent hotel groups, has committed to placing 400 young people into fulfilling, full-time traineeships in 2016.

Working in partnership with Total People, Macdonald Hotels is offering quality traineeships through work experience placements in 17 of its 48 hotels throughout the UK.

Unemployed 16 to 24 year olds will be able to apply for the 16 week “Future Talent” programme where they can experience first-hand all aspects of the hospitality industry, such as food and beverage, conference, and front of house roles.

After four weeks, individuals will be able to focus their on-the-job training in their preferred positions within the hotel, mentored by senior managers at Macdonald Hotels. Candidates will also spend two days a week with Total People, who will deliver theory-based lessons, giving recruits the skills for a prosperous career in hospitality.

At the end of four months, successful participants will graduate and be placed on a route to success within a vacancy or apprenticeship programme at the hotel.

Kellie Rixon, Brand Director at Macdonald Hotels & Resorts, said, “Where university doesn’t appeal to school leavers, or graduates are looking for a change of career, Macdonald Hotels & Resorts is offering young people a fully rounded, high quality, introduction to a career in the hospitality industry.

“As a leading name within the sector, we’re committed to providing real opportunities for people to enter employment. The training is rigorous, but participants will have access to some of the best in the business, putting them on a genuine path to success.”
