New £500m Chelsea Football Club stadium design revealed

Chelsea Football Club's owner, Roman Abramovich has unveiled vision for the future of the Premier League champions at an exhibition for local residents.

The exhibition reveals the blueprint for a rebuilt 60,000 stadium - which will cost Abramovich around £500m - that will pay homage to the club’s history at their one and only venue.

The design of the four new stands take their inspiration from the buttresses, pillars and gothic architecture of Westminster Abbey in whose diocese Stamford Bridge once stood.

Redeveloping the historic Stamford Bridge could take up to three years to complete and result in the club relocating to another venue, such as Wembley or Twickenham.
