Libertine Burger to unveil new US food truck at Big Festival ahead of UK tour

Libertine Burger is to welcome a brand-new, all-American food truck to the UK street food scene. The UK’s National Burger Award winners will unveil their bespoke, retro-fitted Ford F59 truck on tour across the UK this summer.

Having grown out of the burgeoning UK street food scene in 2017, Libertine started life in a decked-out Renault Master followed quickly by two restaurant openings in Leamington Spa and Rugby. The arrival of the Libertine Food Truck marks the brand’s grand return to its roots, touring the UK with their award-winning burgers once more.

The arrival of the state-of-the-art Libertine Food Truck has been a “dream come true” for Libertine founder Charles Harris. Taking 18 months from conception to fruition, the truck was custom-made in Canada by Apollo Food Trucks and then shipped to the UK ready for its August maiden voyage.

The Libertine Food Truck will make its debut outing at none other than Big Feastival, Cotswolds, from 27-29 August 2021. The van will then tour the UK throughout the summer, and then again ahead of Christmas and New Year.

On the arrival of the new food truck, founder Charles Harris said, “My inspiration for the truck came after an amazing trip to New York. Seeing the extent of the street food scene there was totally eye-opening. I realised the UK had a long way to go to catch up. I love the energy, joy and mood the street food vendors bring to the city.

'After watching the film ‘Chef’ I was even more sure that we should go ahead and make the investment to bring our own American-style truck to the UK. I did a lot of research and chose Apollo to design our truck – the work they’ve done is hugely impressive and we wanted to go with the best in business.

'I’m thrilled with the result, and seeing our Libertine Truck land on UK soil was a dream come true. I can’t wait to get her out on the road, bringing Libertine beyond Warwickshire and a little slice of the American street-food scene to all corners of the UK.”

The van build was completed by Apollo, Canada – one of the leading manufacturers of mobile businesses, specialising in retro-fits like the Libertine Food Truck. This is Europe’s first Apollo fit, and marks a revival of the thriving street food scene the UK has developed over the years.

The van boasts a state-of-the-art kitchen including a Magi-Kitch’n grill, Vulcan fryers and True Refrigeration, with space for up to six chefs plus front of house staff enabling Libertine to tour the UK with its best foot forward.

For its debut outing at Big Feastival, Libertine will be cooking up their classic burgers using freshly ground beef from Warwickshire’s own award-winning butchers, Aubrey Allen. House patties are made using Aberdeenshire 50% chuck, 20% flank and 30% brisket cuts, dry-aged or a minimum of 28 days and ground twice just before being packed up. Classics include their #001, #004, #025 burgers as well as fries (house, cheese or dirty) and breakfast buns like Smoked bacon + cheese muffin or organic fried egg + cheese muffins. Fun for all the family, Libertine also caters for little ones with their Little Libertine #001. Burgers start at just £7.50.
