In the historic Cheshire village of Malpas, The Lion pub has unveiled a major refurbishment, which was originally due to be completed earlier in the year.
Formerly named the Red Lion Hotel, the pub had been standing empty for several years, and extensive work was needed to add more accommodation and create a place guests never want to leave.
In the pub, works, carried out by Medlock, included a complete stripping back, rebuild, and extension of the building. Also at this location is a Grade II-listed Tudor cottage that has lovingly been refurbished to create two storeys of accommodation and guest dining space. Opposite that is a new building with even more bedrooms.
Across the site, beautiful bedrooms and communal areas have been brought to life, all in keeping with the classic feel and atmosphere of this listed building.
The kitchen uses the very best local produce, serving meals that reflect the seasons, alongside the pub classics. The menus are updated daily to showcase the fresh ingredients, each cooked in a variety of ways including on a state-of-the-art Josper oven, using Cheshire coals to produce unique and beautiful smoky flavours.
When gatherings are allowed, there is also a large and private function room with its own private bar. The doors of the Brereton suite open on to the courtyard which make it cool on a summer’s day, ideal for hosting get togethers, as well as corporate events.
