Vital Ingredient secures £2.75m investment

Vital Ingredients, the chain of healthy fast food outlets in London, is planning to more than double in size after securing an investment of £2.75m.

Founded in 2001 by Alex Heynes, the chain now operates 11 sites and now hopes to have more than 20 sites in the next 12 months, creating 150 new jobs. The company is now also looking to open a new central distribution unit.

After opening the first Vital Ingredient by himself, Heynes was then joined by entrepreneur Paul Oberschneider who helped open four more stores at the end of 2012 and two more in January 2012. Oberschneirder now runs the business alongside Heynes.

Vital Ingredient focuses on offering an alternative to traditional bread-based fast food. They offer customers 7 different bases, 45 fresh ingredients and 10 dressings to create their own salad or soups and ramens. Homemade salads, wraps, raw pots, snack and desserts are also available.
