The results of the Top 50 Best Gastropubs awards have been announced ranking The Cadogan Arms in Chelsea in 40th place, alongside placing The George in Fitzrovia at 91st in the wider list of the 100 best gastropubs in the UK.
The “Estrella Damm” Top 50 Gastropub Awards are voted for by more than 100 industry experts including leading pub business owners, as well as editors of media brands and food writers. The 2024 awards feature pubs from up and down the country, with five named in London.
Publican, Dominic Jacobs is the Managing Director of both London pubs alongside partners JKS Restaurants. The team refurbished and reopened The Cadogan Arms in July 2021, followed shortly after by The George in February 2022. Both reopening's focused on restoring the historic pubs to their former glory, working with expert craftsmen to renovate original features. James Knappett of two Michelin-star Kitchen Table is the Culinary Director behind both pub menus, drawing inspiration from his first-hand experience of growing up in pubs.
The Cadogan Arms food offering focuses on provenance, seasonality and traceability, celebrating the very best British produce alongside a carefully selected wine list, bespoke beers and classic cocktails. The pub is now one of London’s most sought-after Sunday roast destinations for locals and those visiting London.
Over at The George, the menu has been designed to reflect the magical simplicity of pub fare, served alongside a range of signature dishes representative of a modern London pub. Since opening, The George has built up a reputation for its impressive drinks list which focuses on the perfect pints of Guinness, Irish Whiskey and Irish Coffees, cask ales, craft beers, seasonal cocktails and an extensive wine list.
