The Dorchester Rooftop returns as summer pop up ahead of ‘permanent offering’ next year

The Dorchester Rooftop will return today (29th June) as a summer pop up inspired by a secret English garden, ahead of a ‘permanent offering’ coming to the space in 2024.

The world-famous hotel, which is currently undergoing a multi-million pound refurbishment, announced earlier this year that it would open a ‘permanent offering’ on the rooftop in 2024, but full details of what the space will be have not yet been released.

The Dorchester Rooftop first opened in the summer of 2021, coinciding with The Dorchester’s 90th anniversary.

This time around, the alfresco restaurant, which boasts views across Hyde Park and Central London, will serve a brunch-style sharing menu created by culinary director Martyn Nail.

The summer inspired menu will feature caviar, oysters and fruit de mer, with larger plates including grilled Cornish lobster fregola, cote de boeuf and truffle risotto.

Puddings see a summer berry cheesecake and The Dorchester signature 68% chocolate parfait.

A cocktail menu features drinks infused with herbs and botanicals such as the ‘Endless Summer’ and the ‘Prairie Breeze’.

Infused with ingredients found in the herb garden and topped off with floral garnishes, select cocktails will be served tableside from a bar trolley with a mixologist demonstration.

Nibbles to accompany the cocktail menu include tempura prawns with ponzu mayonnaise, rooftop sliders and truffle eclairs.

The restaurant and bar will be open Thursday through to Saturday for lunch and dinner and lunch on Sunday.

Tables will be available for up to six guests and terrace umbrellas, heaters and blankets will be available should the weather take a turn.

Throughout The Dorchester Rooftop’s initial run, the restaurant welcomed a series of chef residencies and culinary pop-ups, including a British summertime menu by Tom Booton and The Grill; Sri Lankan dishes by Mario Perera; the Polo Lounge at sister property, The Beverly Hills Hotel, and in 2022 a Mediterranean menu by chef de patron Jean-Philippe Blondet.

The Dorchester Rooftop will be open from Thursday 29 June until 3 September 2023.
