Scotmid becomes first Costa Express to introduce reusable cups

Scotland’s largest independent co-operative has become the first Costa Express partner in the UK to introduce reusable Costa Coffee travel cups across its full portfolio of stores.

Scotmid, which has nearly 200 sites across Scotland and the North of England, has made the move to reflect its ambition to significantly reduce the use of single use coffee cups at Costa Express machines located in its stores.

The stainless-steel reusable Costa Coffee Waffle Travel cup will be now available to buy from all Scotmid tills and fit both a Regular and Large Costa Express drink.

With every purchase of the reusable cup, the customer will receive two coupons for two free Hot Filled Breakfast Rolls of their choice. The [brand name of] Breakfast Rolls are worth £3.70 and can be redeemed at any point this year.

The move is also designed to encourage Scotmid customers to consider the small changes they can make themselves, to help reduce the amount of waste being generated from single use items.

Costa Express, is the UK’s leading innovator of barista quality, machine crafted coffee, using freshly grounded beans and fresh milk.

Drinks include Lattes, Cappuccinos and Hot Chocolate and Costa Club app members can earn a Bean for each purchase they make at an Express machine. Earn eight Beans and the nineth drink is free – or the fifth is free after just four purchases in a reusable cup.
