Sainsbury’s opens new store on Hampstead High Street

Sainsbury’s has just welcomed customers through the doors of its new Hampstead High Street Local, in London's NW3.

Colleagues held a small ceremony to cut the ribbon and launch the new 1,938 sq. ft. store, which will be open from 7am-11pm seven days a week.

Local residents, workers and visitors to Hampstead will now have the opportunity to choose from a carefully curated selection of high-quality food and non-food products from Sainsbury’s popular convenience range.

The store will stock an excellent range of fresh food, fruit and vegetables, meat-free options and grocery staples as well as Sainsbury’s delicious selection of sandwiches and ‘food to go’. Fresh bread and pastries will be baked every day in the store’s bakery and customers will also have the chance to pick up a hot drink from the self-service Costa Coffee machine.

As part of its sustainability ambitions, known as Plan for Better, Sainsbury’s is committed to using 100% renewable electricity across its entire estate and the Hampstead High Street store will not rely on any fossil fuels or natural gas for its operational needs, helping to reduce its environmental impact.

The new store team is looking forward to becoming valued members of the Hampstead community, in which colleagues will play an active part. Sainsbury’s has already taken the opportunity to join other local businesses and charities in contributing to the local area by supporting the sourcing and unveiling of Hampstead’s new Christmas lights and tree last year.

Patrick Dunne, Sainsbury’s Property Director, said, “This is a really exciting moment for us as we return to Hampstead with a fantastic new store for the community. It follows our history of serving the area from Sainsbury’s Heath Street in the first half of the 20th century.

“The new store will allow customers to sample the convenience, quality and great value that Sainsbury’s has to offer and I hope they are as pleased with it as I am.”

Kevin Ayres, Sainsbury’s Hampstead High Street Local Store Manager, said, “I feel privileged to be taking the reins of this brilliant new store and my colleagues and I can’t wait to serve and help our new customers. We’re committed to being a team player in the Hampstead community and we’ll continue listening to feedback as we begin to become a part of it.”
