Where The Pancakes to celebrate Shrove Tuesday with pop-up & special menu

On 1 March, Where the pancakes are, the fluffy pancake specialists in London Bridge and Fitzrovia, will celebrate Shrove Tuesday with a special menu across both their restaurants.

The company will also be hosting a one-off pop-up event at the newly opened St Felix Place, next to the London Bridge restaurant.

The celebrations are set to be bigger, better and with even more batter than before, with customers at the pop up also able to try their hand at winning a money can't buy Where the pancakes are black card - entitling them to a year's supply of pancakes on the house.

The day will be stacked full of Where the pancakes are’s savoury buttermilk favourites, including their signature Classic American (£11), with Swaledale Butcher’s streaky bacon, blueberries and Grade A pure maple syrup, or for a vegetarian alternative, halloumi instead of bacon.

Those with a fondness for the brunch staple of Eggs Royale can choose from the Royal Smoked Salmon (£13) with St Ewe’s Farm poached eggs, hollandaise, tarragon, asparagus and smoked salmon, or the Royal Avocado (£13) with avocado.

The vegan favourite Spring Salad (£11) will also be on offer, served as a single vegan pancake under a bed of quinoa, roasted squash and red onion, kale, raw beetroot, pomegranate seeds, cashew nuts and a ginger-soy dressing.

Those with a sweet tooth will be able to choose from the Shrove Tuesday special When Life Gives you Lemons (£9), topped with raspberries, lemon peel ricotta and pistachios, or the best-selling Banana Marshmallow (£10) with banana, basil marshmallow, praline and a choice of either salted caramel or chocolate sauce.

Those looking to get creative and design their own stack can choose from a selection of toppings on top of Two Simple Pancakes (£6) including maple and butter, blueberries or sea salted caramel.

Customers that are confident in their pancake flipping abilities will be encouraged to partake in Where the pancakes are’s ‘Great Pancake Toss’, a competition hosted throughout the day to find the person who can flip a pancake the most times - without crumpling or dropping it - in 1 minute.

The person atop the leaderboard at the end of the day will be crowned the ultimate pancake champion and awarded a Where the pancakes are black card, entitling them to an entire year worth of free pancakes across both restaurants.

For those that prefer to enjoy pancakes in the comfort of their own home, Where the pancakes are will also launch their brand new Deliveroo service Pedal Pancakes from select locations. The ready-to-cook pancake batter will come pre-mixed, ensuring the fluffiest pancakes, with the option to add toppings of their choice and reducing the need for that last minute dash to the supermarket. For pancake enthusiasts a little further afield, nationwide delivery of their Brunch Boxes (£45), will include everything needed to make their Classic American or Halloumi American pancakes at home for six people.

Founder Patricia says: “Each year we have a great turnout for Shrove Tuesday, so we can’t wait to finally welcome all of our customers back this year. In 2021, we were really disappointed to shut our doors on our happiest day of the year, so we wanted to give our loyal customers something special this year - the chance to win a year's supply of pancakes on us!”

The black card entitles the winner to a year’s supply of pancakes for one person across their Fitzrovia and London Bridge sites.
