Sainsbury’s Local opens at Marble Arch

Sainsbury’s has opened its latest London store, Westminster Marble Arch Local. Catherine Mahony, CEO of Westminster Befriend a Family, joined the new store team to cut the ribbon and welcome the first customers through the doors.

The opening of the new store will give Sainsbury’s the chance to showcase its very latest product range, convenience format and brilliant customer service to shoppers in Marble Arch for the first time since the closure of its previous Marble Arch Local in 2016.

Just opposite Hyde Park and Marble Arch Underground station, the new 2,889 sq. ft Sainsbury’s Local is perfectly placed to help and serve local workers, shoppers, residents and visitors to the vibrant central London neighbourhood.

The store will feature a range of great value, high quality fresh food, fruit and veg and frozen food, as well as a selection of branded and own brand grocery products. Bread and pastries will be baked every day in the store and customers can choose to pick up a piping hot coffee from a self-service Costa coffee machine, or a freshly squeezed orange juice from the in-store juicer.

An Argos Click & Collect point will also give customers the chance to order from thousands of Argos products online and pick them up in store at their convenience.

The new store has partnered with local charity Westminster Befriend a Family, which the 35 colleagues that make up the new store team will actively support alongside Sainsbury’s national charity initiatives and community programmes.

As well as inviting the charity to attend the store opening, the store management team is kickstarting the new partnership by volunteering their time to individually mentor young people in the local community via the Westminster Befriend a Family network.

Patrick Dunne, Sainsbury’s Property Director, said, “I’m thrilled that we’ve been able to bring a new Sainsbury’s Local to Marble Arch. Whether for busy Londoners, residents or tourists, this store offers great convenience and quality food. The store looks fantastic and I am so pleased to see the team out in force to welcome everyone through the doors for its first day of trading.”

Abdul Ojud, Westminster Marble Arch Local Store Manager, said, “My team and I have been working hard to prepare for today’s opening and we’re very proud of our new store. I firmly believe customers in Marble Arch are really going to enjoy having Sainsbury’s on their doorstep once again.”
