Lake Windermere hotel to open in July after multi-million pound refurb

A new kind of hotel, The Ro, is set to open this summer in the most popular tourist destination of the lakes, Bowness-on-Windermere.

Overlooking the breathtaking Lake Windermere the new 87 room property has undergone a multi-million pound refurbishment, which has seen it transformed from its previous guise as The Hydro Hotel.

The signification refurbishment has been undertaken by investment group Lake Merritt Hospitality. The hotel will be operated by UK management company, 7 Hospitality Management.

The new hotel will be informal and relaxed but deliver a warm lakes welcome. All guests will be catered for from couples to families to those with dogs.

The 87 rooms feature eight different categories, from cosy to the stunning Ro Suite with lake views. All rooms have been completely renovated and feature clean lines, artistic decor and home from home comforts.

Challenging the formal, all day dining will be available in the dining area – Lacu at The Ro, breakfast for example will be served until 5pm for hotel guests so they never need to rush out of bed.

The cuisine will be local, honest, comfort food; sourced responsibly, seasonally and, where possibly locally, but always British. The Ro Bar will be the perfect destination for both guests and locals, again locally sourced spirits will be on offer.

In addition to the rooms and dining, the hotel’s conference and meeting rooms have also been given an overhaul. The six new spaces can cater for events from 6 to 200.
