Barnsdale Hall Hotel reopens under new ownership & becomes dog-friendly

Barnsdale Hall Hotel, a waterside hotel in the heart of Rutland, is welcoming visitors again after reopening its restaurant, spa and hair salon for the first time since lockdown.

The hotel, which is perfectly located for idyllic walks, hikes and bike rides, has also delighted pet owners by announcing that they are now officially dog-friendly, with furry friends welcome within the hotel grounds, as well as on the outdoor sun terrace, where visitors can currently enjoy delicacies from the hotel restaurant.

Open from 11 am – 7 pm daily, the terrace provides the perfect place to enjoy a socially distanced catch-up with family and friends - whether meeting for a coffee, a 3-course lunch or a cocktail in the sun. Tables on the terrace, which are available on a first-come-first-served basis, offer outstanding views over Rutland Water and a relaxed atmosphere.

Coinciding with its reopening, the restaurant at Barnsdale Hall Hotel has revealed an exciting new menu of dishes prepared using high-quality and seasonal ingredients. With options ranging from Chicken and Pancetta Caesar Salad to Chicken Shashlik with pea shoots and fennel, there is something to tickle every tastebud and suiting every dietary requirement.

A haven for those wishing to partake in activities, the hotel's leisure club has also reopened to members, who are invited to make the most of its tennis courts, swimming pool, gym and 18-hole crazy golf course.

An on-site hair salon, which is a new addition to the hotel since the pandemic, is taking bookings too, whilst anyone looking for some relaxation can book into the recently reopened spa, where an extensive list of ESPA treatments is available for complete indulgence.

The rest of the hotel, having recently been purchased by new owners, is currently undergoing a large-scale refurbishment, which will see impressive updates made to the main hall, reception, restaurant, bar and bedrooms.

The new owners, the Patel family, who co-founded the Cofresh snack foods empire, hope that the hotel will reopen to overnight guests – and as a venue for weddings – on 17 May in line with government guidelines.

Ahead of its reopening, the hotel, which typically employs around 80 people, will be recruiting for several new and exciting positions.

John Higham, Director and General Manager, said, “At Barnsdale Hall Hotel we are blessed with both a stunning location and a property that holds enormous potential.

'With new owners on board who recognise this potential and who are committed to completely reimagining the hotel’s offering, it is an exciting time for us, and I believe the result of this work and regeneration will see Barnsdale Hall become a jewel in the crown of Rutland’s hospitality scene.

As lockdown eases, we are delighted that guests can once again enjoy our alfresco dining and facilities. We are even more delighted to extend the invitation to four-legged friends so that the whole family can enjoy a day out together.

'We look forward to welcoming guests for hotel stays soon, with early bookers set to be amongst the first to enjoy the results of our impressive refurbishment.”

Throughout each stage of the hotel’s reopening, there will be strict measures in place to protect against the spread of Covid-19, including the use of digital thermometers, social distancing and stringent cleaning regimes.

Located in the heart of Rutland, the UK's smallest county, Barnsdale Hall Hotel is a beautiful waterside hotel with spectacular views over Rutland Water.

Set in 65 acres of conservation parkland with walking routes, leisure facilities and year-round recreational activities aplenty, Barnsdale Hall Hotel has everything to keep the whole family entertained.
