Stonegate to shed 300 jobs & move HQ

Stonegate Pub Company, which operates brands like Slug & Lettuce, Be At One, is to axe up to 300 jobs and transfer its headquarters from Luton to its recently-acquired Ei Group office in Solihull.

The move follows the acquisition of Ei Group earlier this year and the redundancies will be across both businesses.

Although Stonegate will leave the Luton head office when the lease expires in December, it will maintain a presence in the town with a satellite hub above one of its pubs.

The company, which has over 15,000 staff, said that any redundancies will reflect its aim to 'reduce central costs where possible', as well as to continue to 'protect the group's liquidity headroom', as the sector recovers over the coming months.

Stonegate also said that the 65 sites under the Bermondsey Pub Company umbrella will be incorporated into the its managed estate and transformed into one of the existing pub formats.
