Camden Market to host Curzon pop-up cinema

LabTech, owner of Camden Market, has signed a partnership with independent cinema group, Curzon, for a pop-up cinema that will be hosted in the market’s North Yard from 16 September for two weeks.

Curzon will operate its exclusive open-air cinema seven days a week, with a capacity for 150 people. The Camden x Curzon partnership will provide visitors with the opportunity to experience exclusive screenings for films yet to hit the UK, including Francois Ozon’s hotly anticipated ‘Summer of 85’.

The open-air cinema will be designed by Curzon’s in house team, hosting deckchairs, and black carpet throughout to help guests immerse themselves in the cinematic experience.

Known as a place to discover other worlds and cultures, Curzon aims to broaden perspectives and deliver memorable theatrical experiences. The cinematic brand’s latest pop-up venue will stand alongside Camden’s latest restaurant openings including; Neat Burger, the world’s first plant-based sustainable burger chain and The Indian Alley.

Philip Knatchbull, CEO of Curzon, said, “We are thrilled to be partnering with Camden Market to host our first open-air cinema post-lockdown. It is an opportunity for us to welcome visitors back to enjoy the cinematic experience in a safe and secure environment complemented by Camden Market’s iconic F&B offer.

'We are confident our years in providing great entertainment will help deliver the ideal evening out for Londoners all over, and will help entice people out to enjoy the ever-evolving offer at Camden Market.”

Maggie Milosavljevic, LabTech’s Retail Commercial Director, added, “Camden Market continues to lead the way in putting London back on the map for locals and visitors to enjoy different food, drinks, retail and leisure experiences post-lockdown.

'When building our offering, we always like to work with unique operators that can bring something different to Camden. Curzon, with its rich cinematic heritage and reputation for introducing critically acclaimed films to the market, definitely fits the bill.”

This news follows Camden Market’s recent partner initiatives showcasing screenings of films that support both the Black Lives Matter and Pride campaigns.
