Flemings Mayfair wine director appointed Marchesi Mazzei ambassador

Andreas Rosendal, Director of Wines at luxury boutique hotel Flemings Mayfair, has been appointed as an ambassador for the 15th century historical Italian winemaker, Marchesi Mazzei.

The relationship, the first of its kind for one of Tuscany’s oldest winemakers, further strengthens the wine offering at the hotel’s restaurant Ormer Mayfair with Marchesi Mazzei supplying Ormer Mayfair with its rare 1992 Siepi. Ormer Mayfair will be the only restaurant in the UK to list the outstanding first vintage.

A three-course menu paired with a selection of five wines from the four estates of Mazzei will be available at Ormer Mayfair and a full page in the restaurant’s wine list will also be dedicated to the Chianti estate of Castelo Fonterutoli, with more than 14 vintages of the Chianti Classico sitting alongside the exclusive Siepi.

Henrik Muehle, General Manager at Flemings Mayfair, commented: “We are fortunate to have someone as experienced as Andreas and I know this collaboration with Marchesi Mazzei will result in exciting events and further enhance our list.”

Joining Flemings in 2016, Andreas has brought a wealth of experience including Assistant Head Sommelier at two-star restaurant Sat Bains. Since Ormer Mayfair opened in September 2016 following a £16million refurbishment, Andreas has taken the elegant restaurant’s wine list, which features world-renowned classic bins alongside stunning new varietals, from strength to strength.
