Jude’s ice cream absorbs rising cost of vanilla

As the cost of raw vanilla continues to increase, overtaking that of silver, Jude’s ice cream, the British, family-run ice cream brand continues to absorb the difference, ensuring that customers can continue to tuck into their favourite flavour this summer at no extra cost.

Chow Mezger, Managing Director and Jude’s son, explained, “Jude’s vanilla price has increase over 1000% in the past 2 years! So we have been affected by this.

'Vanilla remains the countries favourite flavour, and as such here at Jude’s, we have just launched a new Vanilla Clotted Cream flavour to meet demand. Within its first month on shelf at Sainsbury’s, vanilla clotted cream is already selling as much as our signature salted caramel flavour.

'At this stage, because of the popularity of vanilla we have decided to absorb the cost increase rather than use a vanilla flavouring, or pass on the cost increase to our customers.'

Mezger finished, 'We hope that the cost will come down in future years but wish to continue to provide our customers with the finest quality vanilla ice cream to tuck into this summer.”
