Early October opening date confirmed for Rambla from Victor Garvey

Rambla, Victor Garvey’s much-anticipated Catalan restaurant, will open on Wednesday 4 October at 64 Dean Street, Soho.

It is Garvey’s second opening in 2017, following the launch of his wine and cheese bar Sibarita in Covent Garden in June, and third solo venture along with his modern Spanish restaurant Encant, which opened in 2016.

Split over the ground floor and basement of the 60-cover corner site, Rambla will open in phases with the ground floor opening first and initially for dinner only. The basement will open and hours be extended to include lunchtime in the coming weeks. The interior, designed by Rees Associates, will be light and atmospheric, reminiscent of Barcelona’s elegant-but-casual beachfront restaurants.

The menu at Rambla, which takes its name from Barcelona’s famous thoroughfare La Rambla where Victor lived as a child, will focus on Catalan cuisine, the food of Victor’s youth.

The menu will be divided into three sections – Cru - raw & cured; Mar – seafood; and Muntanya – mountains. Dishes will include Fresh Mediterranean Calamari Stuffed with Prawn & Lobster In Its Own Ink Sauce; Braised Oxtail Canelones with “El Sec” Cheese Sauce; and ‘Bocatta de Butifarra Negra’ Catalan Black Pudding Sandwich, Green Apple Slaw.

In common with Encant and Sibarita, the menu at Rambla will be complemented by an all-Spanish wine list, with an emphasis on Catalunya, available by the glass and bottle, as well as a wide variety of gin & tonics and classic cocktails.

Garvey said, “I’m incredibly excited to be opening Rambla on Dean Street. It’s without doubt one of the most exciting streets in London with its concentration of great restaurants, bars and members’ clubs like Tonkotsu, Barrafina, Quo Vadis and The Groucho. To be opening my biggest restaurant to date in such an amazing location is an honour, and the team and I can’t wait to bring Catalan cuisine to Soho.”
