New UK consumer survey shows Five Guys is favourite QSR

US-based burger chain, Five Guys has beaten Nando's to become the UK's favourite fast-food restaurant, according to an annual survey by Market Force.

It came first in the poll of 4,565 consumers, with a loyalty index score of more than 50 per cent based on a customer's likelihood to recommend the brand and marks awarded across a range of food and customer service criteria.

The group actually came first in fewer individual categories than second placed Nando's, but that it won out thanks to its 'exceptional' performance in food quality, cleanliness and staff friendliness'.

Five Guys opened its first UK outlet in London's Covent Garden in 2014, and now operates 41 stores across the country.

The once-dominant McDonald's only came in fourth in the poll, emphasising the challenge it faces from brands that base their appeal on quality rather than cost.

Pret a Manger was named the UK's favourite sandwich chain and is also the favourite coffee shop, beating the likes of Cafe Nero, Costa and Starbucks.
