Polpo to open two regional restaurants as London site closes

Restaurant group Polpo is to expand its current estate with two new regional eateries in Bristol and Bath this year, as one of its London restaurants, Mishkin's closes.

The Bath restaurant will be the company's largest to date and Polpo is looking to grow further in the regions over the next 18 to 24 months, targeting university and market towns.

Mishkin's, which was launched in 2011, was known as a 'Jewish deli with cocktails', and was inspired by New York's Lower East Side and east London's cafes.

Set up in 2009 by Russell Norman and Richard Beatty, the group of restaurants has expanded rapidly, fuelled by the popularity of their ‘from market to table’ approach to serving fantastically fresh, seasonal dishes.

Currently there are five standalone Polpo restaurants in London, plus one in Brighton, as well as Polpetto, and Spuntino. There is also a Polpo at Harvey Nichols London - and in Harvey Nichols Leeds at the end of the month - and at Ape & Bird in Shaftsbury Avenue, WC2.
