Premier London caterer Vacherin has been named on the ‘Food Made Good’ top 20 list for 2017, by the Sustainable Restaurant Association (SRA), and is the only contract caterer to have made the list.
The businesses who made the list represent those who achieved the highest scores in this year’s round of ratings. Vacherin received three out of three stars, with many commendable practices being observed - like using imperfect vegetables - across all three pillars of sourcing, society and environment.
The SRA is an organisation whose membership represents a broad spectrum of the hospitality industry, all members of which are united in their commitment to sustainability. The Food Made Good Sustainability Rating provides members with recognition for their sustainability, as well as a tool to engage staff, suppliers and inform customers.
Demand for greater sustainability from caterers has never been greater. Phil Roker, managing director at Vacherin, said, “Commitment to creating genuine sustainability and high ethical standards is second nature to us.
'We have always aimed to do so much more than just meet the minimum requirements for our clients, so it’s great to have been recognised by the SRA in this way. The fact we are the only contract catering business to have made the top 20 secures our position as London’s premier independent caterer.”
The top 20 businesses also make up the shortlist for the Food Made Good Business of the Year Award, for the business achieving the highest score. The award will be presented by SRA president, Raymond Blanc, during a ceremony on 5th October at the Royal Horticultural Society’s Lindley Hall.
