Following 20 years with Sodexo, David Mulcahy has stepped into a new role as consultant ESG partnership director at Fuelling Minds, the independent catering start-up.
In his new role, the former director of food and sustainability for Sodexo UK & Ireland will support Fuelling Minds in advancing its sustainability and social impact agenda, with a focus on chef training and food waste reduction.
Beyond his new role, Mulcahy is vice president of the Craft Guild of Chefs and leads Springboard’s FutureChef competition as national chairman.
In recognition of his contributions to the industry, he received the Outstanding Achievement Award at the first Foodservice Cateys in 2013 and was later honoured with an Order of Merit from the Craft Guild of Chefs.
Joining Mulcahy at Fuelling Minds is Christine Bailey, who takes on the role of nutrition and wellbeing consultant. Crowned Healthy Eating Champion at the 2024 Foodservice Cateys, she brings experience as former group director of nutrition and wellbeing at Thomas Franks and a portfolio of more than a dozen published nutrition and recipe books.
Bailey will deliver webinars and wellness talks and create specialist menus for schools and workplaces drawing on her clinical expertise.
Founder and managing director of Fuelling Minds, David Anderson, said: “Fuelling Minds launched with a strong sense of purpose and a desire to provide more than just great food. We are fast becoming the sector’s most well-resourced start up, working with some amazingly talented people who share our vision and values.
“We feel very honoured and fortunate to strengthen our team with David and Christine’s passion, creativity and industry experience, benefitting our clients and the wider industry. David is a passionate advocate for encouraging future talent into our industry – a challenge that we all know too well. Christine, likewise, through her brilliant work with schools, is a natural ambassador and expert. It’s an exciting time for Fuelling Minds and we are delighted to share this good news.”
Fuelling Minds Catering Management was founded earlier this year by Anderson, previously managing director (South) at Wilson Vale.
The new B&I and independent schools caterer is focusing on sites across Cambridge and the surrounding areas, as well as in Essex, Norfolk, Suffolk, London, the Midlands, Bedford and Milton Keynes.
