Kebab Queen to launch cookery masterclasses in early 2023

Kebab Queen’s Executive Chef Manu Canales has devised a series of kebab cookery masterclasses, showcasing the diversity of dishes from the superbly-crafted menus of the 10-seat Covent Garden restaurant.

Kicking off in the New Year, Manu (pictured) will share his cooking tips and style with guests through a series of intimate classes.

The first masterclass will be on Sunday, 15 January 2023, with initial subsequent dates scheduled for Sunday, 29 January, and Sunday, 12 February 2023.

Each class will include instruction and hands-on participation, with explanation of the background and detailed preparation of various dishes from the Kebab Queen repertoire.

Topics will cover basic and advanced techniques and tips that can be incorporated at home, including flatbread-making, butchery and meat prep, grilling, sauces and dressings, the use of spices and garnishes, and the art of plating.

Classes during the series will be structured around favoured ingredients and dishes, including game, BBQ and grills, and seafood, always taking influence from Kebab Queen’s constantly-evolving menus.

Chef Manu Canales is a biology graduate, and therefore deploys scientific knowledge in his technical approach to cookery.

During the masterclasses, he will encourage guests to actively participate, to practice and develop their skills, and to cook and then eat their own preparations, learning alongside Manu’s supervision. No cooking experience is required, and lessons are tailored to all levels.

The overall aim is to have fun, learn and enjoy interesting food. The lesson price is £95pp for up to eight participants (whether individuals, couples or small groups).

Classes will be held at Kebab Queen in Covent Garden, commencing at 11.30am, and will last approximately two-and-a-half hours.

Additionally, each course will include a pre-lesson booklet and brief sent prior to the class date, as well as a welcome coffee/tea on arrival, the full meal (of the dishes created during the class).

The interactive session will finish with a full debrief with Manu, with a Q&A over drinks, and each guest will receive a recipe and technique info pack to summarise the class activity.
