Virtual clay shooting bar to launch this November in the City

Clays, an indoor virtual clay shooting experience and bar, located in the heart of the City of London at 55 Moorgate, will open its first site on 1 November.

Clays will offer a fully digitised clay shooting experience using world-class technology, alongside an offering of enticing food and cocktail menus, creating a unique entertainment proposition for clay pigeon shooting fans and novices alike.

Spanning two floors, the 11,000sqf. new Moorgate concept comprises 12 ‘pegs’ or booths, which can be booked by groups of up to 20 people for a 90-minute session. A Shoot Captain (Host) will show you how to get setup in the peg which has a four-metre-wide screen bringing the British countryside to life and show you the beautiful shotguns you will be using for the digital shoot.

Clays game has been developed using state of the art technology which tracks your guns movements to sub-millimetre accuracy. The precision of the game and realism of the shotgun provides an engaging shooting experience which can be enjoyed with single or multiplayer options, and with four different game modes available suitable for people who have never shot before up to team GB level shooters.

Helping to advise the Clays team on the traditional clay pigeon shooting elements of the digital game is Team GB Olympic Trap shooter Georgina Roberts.

As well as offering a brand-new entertainment proposition, the Clays Bar technology allows you to order food and drink to your peg, where guests can choose from an extensive menu of vegan, vegetarian and meat dishes from the small plates menu such as ‘Sweetcorn Ribs with paprika salt and chilli dip’ or ‘Cured Salmon with Yuzu, Avocado and Charcoal Crisp.’

Guests can also enjoy the sharing concept featured on the ‘Food on Bread’ menu with an artisanal bread from around the world, such as an Italian focaccia topped with wood roasted red peppers, olives, salsa verde and baby artichokes or a Lebanese flatbread topped with hummus, rose harissa, pickled chili and grilled halloumi.

The Clays food menu has been developed by Culinary Director Roger Ollson, formerly of The Ritz, The Dorchester and Pied a Terre, and has focused on using sustainable suppliers whilst building the menu.

Guests visiting the bar can enjoy signature cocktail creations using the latest concepts used in the world’s leading bars, like the clarification process which created a unique, layered, complex, drinking experience, with a menu curated by General Manger Jon Calabrese, previously of the iconic Hoxton Pony.

Signature cocktails include ‘Jack’s Apple Orchard,’ a crystal clear drink with Tennessee Whiskey that tastes like a toffee apple, the ‘Sloegasm,’ a twist on the country classic with Sloe gin, white wine and cherry vermouth, and ‘Double Barrel,’ a silky and sublimely intense cocktail featuring brandy washed with cacao butter, cherry vermouth and a cacao rim.

Founder Tom Snellock commented, ‘Guests are looking for the whole package when they go out with friends or their company Christmas party, hence the explosion of experiential concepts.

'We’ve really focused on making our food, drink and our game the best experience for the customer, bringing in fantastic experience from the likes of Roger Olsson as our culinary director Jon Calabrese as our General Manager, and Georgina Roberts, who has represented Wales and Great Britain at Olympic Trap shooting.

'Our aim is to make sure every customer walks away being blown away by Clays and is the target for their next night out.”

Clays will open seven days a week, 12pm-12am from 1 November in Moorgate, London.
