New owners for £2.9m holiday park for first time in 72 years

Savills, on behalf of a private client, has completed the sale of Downtown Holiday Park to Shorefield Holidays Ltd for over the guide price of £2.9m.

This will be the first time in 72 years that the Hampshire holiday park will have new owners.

The 74 pitch site is situated on the edge of the New Forest within easy reach of local beaches and sits on a site extending to 3.61 acres (1.46 hectares).

It also offers a games room and laundry, children’s play area, and a detached four bedroom owner/manager’s house with office, reception and detached garage.

Kay Griffiths, Associate Director in the Leisure and Trade team at Savills Oxford, said, “Holiday parks continue to attract significant buyer interest, especially for well-established businesses.

'The sector has been resilient over the pandemic and with the current boost as a result in the international travel disruption and the longer term trend of sustainable holidaying closer to home, the staycation market and the holiday park sector look set to benefit.”

Sara Bertin, Financial Director of Shorefield Holidays, added, “We are delighted to add Downton Holiday Park to our family of parks. It has long been a dream of ours to acquire Downton as it adjoins our flagship park at Milford on Sea.

'We look forward to getting to know the holiday home-owners and holidaymakers.”
