Adina relaunches at larger site in Spitalfields on 19 May

London’s favourite Peruvian restaurant, Andina has confirmed it will relaunch in its new Spitalfields home on Wednesday 19 May.

Bookings are now open for lunch and dinner, seven days a week, with an ‘all-in’ weekend brunch menu and tables reserved for walk ins.

The new flagship space is located right opposite Middle-Eastern hot spot Bubala on Commercial Street, just behind the iconic Spitalfields Market, and is much larger than its previous Shoreditch home (which was forced to close due to the pandemic).

The new site offers 80-covers in the main restaurant and Pisco bar space, and a further 30 seats downstairs in Bar Mistura - a late night cocktail bar and taqueria, set to launch in June.

The menu at Andina Spitalfields comes courtesy of head chef Bruno Moura and his team, and will pay homage to the restaurant’s Andean roots, offering its much-loved collection of signature ceviches - Peru’s national dish, such as the ‘Yana Tuna Ceviche - fresh tuna, rocoto chilli tiger’s milk, pickled pineapple, samphire radish & pickled onion’ and the famous ‘Don Ceviche - fresh sea bass ceviche with avocado, amarillo chilli tiger’s milk, sweet potato & red onion’, which helped put Andina and sister restaurant Ceviche in Soho, firmly on London’s ‘must visit’ restaurant map.

New vegan dishes to the menu include a ‘Proper vegan burger - with sweet potato ketchup, avocado, pickled red onions & carrot bacon’ and ‘BBQ pulled Jackfruit - with avocado smash, chipotle carrot cheese, spring onion, coriander, panca chilli & cassava shards’.

The weekend brunch menu will include an ‘all-in’ option, offering guests the choice of one signature ceviche, one brunch dish and a dessert, for an ‘all-in’ price of £21 per person, complete pisco sours for just £5.00 for the duration of their brunch.

The food menu will be served alongside a punchy cocktail list, which of course includes Andina’s legendary Pisco Sour. Look out for ‘Pisco Sour Hour’ at the restaurant between 4pm-6pm Monday to Thursday, when guests can order pisco sours.

The interiors at the new site will retain many familiar elements of its previous Shoreditch
home, such as the beautiful traditional Peruvian ‘quipus’ wall art, that represents the food from the Andes, alongside an impressive stand-out feature wall displaying original vintage Peruvian and Latin American vinyl records, and a brand new Pisco bar that will welcome guests as they enter the new restaurant.

Andina’s Managing Director, Raquel de Oliveira, commented ahead of the relaunch, “It’s obviously no secret this last year has been an absolute shocker for the whole of the hospitality sector. Having to leave our original home in Shoreditch after seven years was really heartbreaking. But finding our new home on Commercial Street in Spitalfields feels like a fresh start for the team and the Andina brand as a whole.

'The space is much bigger, so we can now serve more of our loyal customers, many of whom have been dining with us from day one and have supported us throughout the pandemic, which is so humbling right now. And with the bigger kitchen space we will be able to expand our menu, as well as launching a brand new Latin American cocktail bar and taqueria concept in the downstairs space called Bar Mistura, which we are super excited about.

'Mistura means ‘mixture’ in Spanish, which seemed like a fitting name given that the Peruvian and wider Latina American culture encompasses a brilliant mixture of different countries, cuisines and wonderful people. Just like us. We want the new space to feel inclusive for everybody, and after this last terrible year we hope our customers will want to come and celebrate this new beginning with us at Andina Spitalfields when we open next month.”

Downstairs at Andina will be Bar Mistura, a 32-cover Latin American speakeasy-style taqueria bar, serving its own cocktail menu alongside a tasty bar snacks and taco menu, offering delicious taco combinations such as ‘Baja Cod - battered cod, baby gem lettuce, chipotle mayo, salsa verde fresca & pickled onion’ and ‘Carnitas - slow braised pork with orange, pineapple & spices, served with salsa morita, white onion, coriander & chicharones’ and snacks including ‘Chicharron pork belly bites’ and ‘Cassava fries with amarillo chilli & feta dip’.

Mistura will showcase all that Latin American culture has to offer, from the drinks and street food, through to the music and colourful and vibrant decor, with wall art paying homage to a host of Latin American icons. Guests are sure to be transported to a fun holiday vibe whenever they visit the bar. Mistura will take bookings and open late until 1am on Fridays and Saturdays, with private and exclusive hire options available for larger groups.
