Wigan c-store & post office changes hands

The leasehold of Aspull Moor Spar & Post Office, an established Spar-branded convenience store and post office in Greater Manchester, has been sold via Christie & co..

The site enjoys a prominent main road position within Aspull, a village within the borough of Wigan, ensuring a consistent abundance of passing traffic.

The previous owners, the Procter family have operated the store for over 66 years, establishing it as a successful business at the heart of the community during this time. They can now look forward to a well-earned retirement having found a new leaseholder to take on the business.

The business garnered a wealth of interest and offers in the height of the pandemic, of which Christie & Co carefully vetted, before a deal was agreed to the successful buyers.

The new leasehold has been secured by the Subramaniyam family, who are first time buyers and are keen to become a big part of the local community. They have decided to stay with the Spar brand and are keen to add more product lines to the convenience store and post office.

James Moore-Martin from Christie & Co secured the new leasehold and commented, “This is a deal we agreed and progressed through the pandemic and I’m absolutely delighted for both the buyer and seller that we have completed.

'I wish the Procter family an enjoyable retirement and the Subramaniyam family the best of luck with their new business, which I’m sure they will take from strength to strength.”
