World of Zing, the pioneers of bottled cocktails, took a massive hit on sales in March 2020, with 85% of its revenue attributed to the ontrade. From April until July sales were negligible with under 50,000 cocktails bought.
The company had to pivot its offering directly to consumers, plus supporting restaurants with delivery cocktails and online events/corporate sales.
The team, who had previously hand-crafted cocktails for popular national groups such as Curzon Cinemas, Tonkotsu and Bill’s used the down time to innovate new cocktails recipes and packaging formats to keep World of Zing’s offering ahead of the curve.
At the end of 2020, the company sold over 650,000 cocktails, proving that even with hospitality closed, consumers are still looking for top quality cocktails at home.
Most popular cocktails across the UK in 2020 across 650,000 cocktails sold by World of Zing:
Salted Caramel Espresso Martini
Bordeaux Aged Negroni
Persian Lime & Nori Margarita
Moreover, the UK’s thirst for all things Prosecco shows no sign of slowing, with World of Zing’s new Prosecco Cocktails Gift Set proved to be our most popular Direct to Consumer product of the year.
The company also saw strong sales with more innovative flavour combinations, such as the Yuzu Whiskey Sour proving to be World of Zing’s next highest selling new product, whilst the growing appreciation of premium tequila saw our Christmas Margarita become our 6th top selling product in December, just behind our Persian Lime & Nori Margarita.
