Alex Hely-Hutchinson has announced that her Borough Market restaurant Stoney Street by 26 Grains will transform into a wine bar by night from this evening.
Welcoming locals and visitors to London’s much-loved food market, Stoney Street by Night will showcase a curated list of natural wines from across the world sourced from acclaimed wine suppliers including Modal Wines and Les Caves de Pyrene alongside a selection of small plates.
Available every evening from Wednesday to Saturday, Stoney Street by Night will continue to showcase Alex’s provenance-led cooking style with a focus on seasonality through a concise menu of light bites to be paired with the wines.
Diners and wine-lovers alike will be able to enjoy a variety of signature snacks such as honey sweet melon with prosciutto and ?lamb merguez sausage wrapped in filo and? served with peach chutney, designed for sharing.
Working with artisanal wine suppliers, there will be a short but considered list of wines available by the glass and the bottle for guests to find their desired tipple. Alex will welcome a selection of no and low-intervention varieties each expressive of their individual terroir.
To accompany the wine list and for those looking for something a little stronger, there will be a selection of classic cocktails including Tarragon Collins and ?Vodka Blackberry Shrub?.
As the evenings draw in, guests will be greeted by the warm glow of candle light as they choose to either perch at one of the two restaurant counters or by the window-bar as oenophiles sip on wines transporting them from the foothills of Austria, to the fertile valleys of the Loire, the lakes of Slovenia and beyond.
For early risers, Stoney Street will continue to serve their breakfast and daily changing lunch menu of galettes including their caramelised red onion, tomato, courgette, leek & feta and crab & saffron tart.
On Sundays, diners in search of a leisurely affair will now be able to tuck into Alex’s new brunch menu including plates full of house rye and soda bread with smoked salmon, pickled onions, fluffy scrambled eggs and shallot cre`me fraiche. For those in a hurry, the hatch will remain open selling freshly baked pastries and seasonal tarts, ideal to be eaten on the go.
