Butchies set to launch first South London site next week

Butchies, London’s favourite fried chicken sandwich specialist, is launching its first South London location (on Clapham High Street) on Tuesday 11 August.

To celebrate, Butchies is giving away 100 free OG burgers to the first 100 guests from 12 noon on Friday 14 August.

As well as serving up London’s best buttermilk fried chicken, Butchies’ mission is to 'Spread Love', so the restaurant will also support local communities by donating 100 burgers to local homeless shelter Ace of Clubs; a family-like community, providing transformative support for those who are homeless, vulnerable and otherwise marginalised in the Clapham Common area.

The grab-and-go site, just off the common, so perfectly placed for picnics in the sunshine, features an all-day menu including six of their famous fried chicken sandwiches served in soft butter-toasted buns.

The sandwiches include, The Original with house pickles and Butchies’ OG sauce; Cheesy Rider served with cheese dripping, house pickles and Butchies’ Sriracha chili sauce; and Jenny from the Block with guacamole, chipotle mayo and smoked streaky bacon. Butchies’ award-winning Buffalo Wings and classic Buttermilk Chicken Tenders are also on offer, as well as - for the first time - Butchie’s own take on Popcorn Chicken.

For the first time, Butchies has also launched the Shorty Meal; a kid’s meal, including 6 pieces of its new Popcorn Chicken, house BBQ sauce, small fries and a blackcurrant and raspberry juice from Pip Organic. Vegans or flexitarians can enjoy the Vegan OG Burger, with plant-based fried chicken, vegan OG sauce and house pickles.

Sides include Butch ‘Hot Shake’ Fries with Butchies hot chicken salt and spice blend; Cheese Fries with Red Leicester cheese dripping, and the Instagram worthy Halloumi Fries with hot chilli honey.

Co-founder Garrett Fitzgerald said, “At the beginning of lockdown we launched a delivery only kitchen in Battersea which has been a huge success for us. We are super excited to be migrating that kitchen to Clapham High Street, which allows us to continue serving all our local delivery customers as well as allowing us to serve the beautiful people of Clapham in the flesh. Butchies is a fun, bustling fried buttermilk chicken shop.

'Proudly born on the street, we strive to recreate the energy and community of the street food and music festival scene in all our locations. This location, with its 4am licence, will certainly allow us to do that.

'Clapham High Street is such a fun location, the Common is a short walk away, and when things eventually go back to normal we are bang smack in the middle of the area's infamous raucous nightlife - and ready to serve up to the revellers!”
